Big News! The new Passenger CD is out today. We’ve never featured an international release in our NL webstore but we’re making an exception.
This hugely successful English pop/folk artist features NL’s own The Once as backing vocalists on almost every track on this outstanding album.
The Once will tour with chart-topping Passenger on his world tour through the US, Europe, UK and the Far East from August 2014 to January 2015.
The deluxe 2CD versionis only $16.99 and a paltry $12.99 for the regular edition.
Perhaps the most intimate performance ever to grace our floor was that of Steve Maloney on Saturday.
Accompanied by the celestial and empathetic backing vocals of Jen Benson and Amy Joy, Steve held his audience spellbound for a 45 minute unplugged and up close set. Folks have told us how beautiful and serene his offering was and of course Steve’s compelling voice.
Thanks Steve, Amy and Jen for a gorgeous show and of course much thanks to all the folks who dropped in to support our amazing homegrown talent.

Congratulations to Kelly Russell for being awarded the Order of Canada today. Kelly has made an immense contribution to the music and culture of Newfoundland.
He was an early collector of Newfoundland folk music & collaborator with seminal fiddlers Emile Benoit & Rufus Guinchard. He is a musicologist, founder of Pigeon Inlet record label, music publisher and multi-instrumentalist/performer with many groups, including Figgy Duff, Wonderful Grand Band, Plankerdown Band and Irish Descendants.
And he’s a monster fiddle player.
Congratulations to Newfoundland’s 2014 East Coast Music Award Winners! Guitar Wizards Duane Andrews and Craig Young’s CD “Charlie’s Boogie” won Traditional Instrumental Recording of the Year.
MUN Music Prof Clark Ross won Classical Composition of the Year for his piece “Lamentations” on the solo cello CD “Full Spectrum” by MUN Music school’s Vernon Regehr.
Both CDs are available in-store and online.
Baytown delivered a spirited performance for their fans and our customers on Saturday, March 29th.
The boys performed virtually their entire new album “Island” (available by clicking here) in a free, all ages event in our store, much to the delight of those smiling, groovin’ folks in attendance.
Our thanks to Baytown for dropping by, presenting a great show and hanging out to sign copies of “Island” post performance. All our best to you on our east coast tour.
And as always, thank you to all the folks who came by to support the band. We are bursting with talent in our province and privileged to showcase our shared musical pride and joy.
